USP - IBM Bridging the Gap is a short course that will take place from March 11 through March 22, 2013 in the Electrical Engineering Department at EESC/USP, São Carlos (SP), Brasil. Its aim is to promote close interaction between USP and IBM among professors, researchers, undergrads and graduate students in engineering, computer science, physics, chemistry and mathematics.

This is the first step in establishing a research partnership between USP and IBM.

A format of six real-time video lectures from leading IBM Researchers will be coordinated and presented on USP’s campus by Dr. Jane Frommer, senior researcher at the IBM Almaden Research Center in San Jose, California. A list of lecture titles will be posted on this website by December 10th. Following the series of lectures, attendees will write an original research proposal based on the material in one of the lectures. Interested attendees may submit their proposals to the IBM principal investigators for consideration as an intern candidate. A limited number of IBM-ARC internships is anticipated to result from this short course.

Certificates will be awarded to course attendees as well as course credits for USP graduate and undergraduate students.

All lectures will be given in English.
